Night clubs in Playa del Carmen mexico

Nightclubs in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is known for being a much more active city than Cancun and of course, when you visit Cancun, Playa del Carmen should already be on your list of places to visit, because it is close to all the best attractions, such as Xcaret, Xplor, Xenses and of course, without forgetting its beaches, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Of course, another time we will tell you about each of its characteristics that make it one of the most sought after places in the Riviera Maya, but today we will tell you about its best nightclubs where the fun ends until the sun comes up.

Coco Bongo

Coco Bongo is considered one of the best nightclubs in the world, because its music, shows, service and attention make it a place not only where you can go dancing, but also a place to entertain and enjoy yourself.

While the city of Cancun has its own location (which currently opened a beach club), Playa del Carmen is not far behind and best of all, this show, bar and nightclub is located in the heart of Quinta Avenida.

Coco Bongo playa del carmen

Mandala is another nightclub that can’t be left out and if you know its Cancun brother, you know it’s a nightclub that never disappoints.

This place has a very different concept from the previous one and its ambiance is much more focused on electronic and reggaeton music.

It is worth mentioning that only on weekends they do a “small live show”, and on some other occasions world-class DJs come to play here.

mandala playa del carmen

Continuing with our list of the nightclubs in Playa del Carmen that you have to visit or choose from according to your tastes and fun focus, we find Palazzo Playa del Carmen.

A few years ago the city of Cancun came to have this nightclub among its nightlife lines, and although the acceptance was very good, it no longer has it today. But this does not mean that in other places there is not this nightclub, places like Playa del Carmen.

It is worth mentioning that this nightclub has a similar concept to the Mandala Playa del Carmen nightclub, since it can be said that they are “brothers”. So if you like one, you will surely like the other.

La Vaquita

La Vaquita is another well-known nightclub in Cancun and Playa del Carmen, this is because it is a “semi open” discotheque or in other words: From outside you can see the atmosphere and why not, you can buy your “six” at the nearest oxxo and dance.

La Vaquita

Clandestino is a bar and restaurant that we can’t leave out either. As such, it has a similar concept to Señor Frong’s, but with a little more elegance, style and a show that is usually continuous, mainly on weekends.

Tapanko VIP Beach

Last but not least, we find the Tapanko nightclub, which is a gentlemen’s club, and needless to say, you can make your imagination fly.

Tapanko VIP Beach

Six places in the Riviera Maya that you should not miss

Although its 1,000-year-old ruins deserve a visit there are more than six places in the Riviera Maya, the Mayan influence is not the reason for the recent increase in tourism. The New Age atmosphere of Tulum, the restaurants surrounded by jungle and the white sand beaches have made it the warmest place on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.

Yoga in Sanara: The yoga studio facing the sea in this ecological complex is characterized by sliding glass doors that open to allow the air to caress your skin during practice. The establishment is open from 8:30 a.m. at 10:15 a.m. or at 5:00 p.m.

Tacos in La Eufemia: In front of the sea, it allows to be relaxed all day; being pampered with a refreshing drink at the oriya of the beach. You can not miss the fish tacos or the freshly squeezed orange juice. Dining at Mezzanine: If you’re looking for an elegant night, most people agree; with the project that started a couple in Brooklyn many years ago. And although the food is of good quality, the wood chops are exquisite. The best fusion of Thai-Mexican food is found in Mezzanine, where the Thai curry pad and the massaman rival the view of the waves.

Drinks in Gypsy: The influence of New York in many places of Tulum does not happen by apperception. This bar of drinks surrounded by living nature deserves a visit. It must be taken into account that this is a mezcaleria, therefore, the choice of liquor is somewhat limited. On Friday nights you see Gypsy becoming a party.

Very Mexican breakfast in Zamas: Many consider it worthwhile to visit Zamas breakfasts. Many boast about huevos rancheros, but we went through a special chilaquiles (fried tortilla strips covered in salsa, cheese and fried eggs) that were worth ruining the benefits of yoga class that morning. It’s worth losing lunch and dinner.

Burritos in Burrito Amor: People get excited about the authentic Mexican sensation. The food is undoubtedly good, though cheap enough that you almost do not care. Opt for the newly opened Burrito Amor (shown below), which, although touristic, is one of the most outstanding meals for both breakfast and lunch.

Every year thousands of turtles come to the Riviera Maya, and now it is that time of the year when the female turtles come to the land to lay their eggs.

Sea turtle nesting season begins in May in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. All along the Mexican Caribbean shoreline, the Riviera Maya, Isla Mujeres, Contoy, Holbox, Cozumel, Sian Ka’an and the beaches of southern Quintana Roo, female green, loggerhead and hawksbill turtles, and the occasional giant leatherback turtle, come ashore at night to lay their eggs in the sand.

This year sea turtle nesting season began several weeks early when a leatherback sea turtle arrived as early as 11 April to lay 71 eggs in the sand. Since then, a few more sea turtles have continued to arrive by night to create their beach nests, making an early start to the nesting season that shouldn’t have begun until 1 May.

One single female turtle can lay up to 200 eggs at once. The eggs are laid safely on the sand,  few meters away from the beaches. Forty-five to 60 days later, their eggs hatch and the baby turtles struggle out of the shells and begin their perilous dash towards the waves and a new life at sea.

Mexico is home to six out of seven sea turtle species worldwide. One very important area for the inhabitation of sea turtles is the Yucatan Peninsula, which has not only plenty of nesting beaches to offer, but also high nutritive feeding locations.

If you are due to visit the Riviera Maya this season, join us in protecting these beautiful creatures.

  • If you spot a sea turtle on the beach at night let her do her job (nesting).
  • Be very quiet and keep still.
  • Watch from a distance of ten meters.
  • Do not attempt to touch the sea turtle or crowd her.
  • Do not shine a torch or use the light on your mobile pone.
  • Please, no flash photography of nesting sea turtles or baby turtles.
  • No smoking.

• Help us to keep our beaches and sea clean. Discarded straws, plastic bags, beer packaging, fishing lines and other garbage floating in the water are lethal to sea turtles and other marine life

• When snorkeling or diving watch sea turtles from a distance, do not swim towards them and do not attempt to touch them

• Wear a t-shirt when snorkeling as protection from the sun instead of applying sun block. Sun products pollute the water and are harmful to marine life

The sea turtle is protected by Mexican law and it is illegal to disturb them, persecute or hunt them and consume their meat or eggs.

The sea turtle nesting season it is an inspiring and unique moment, either to see the marine turtle nest or the babies hatch in Cancun and Riviera Maya Mexico. Observe, absorb and enjoy – only few people have the chance to be part of this beautiful process!
